Final Project-Growth

As I approach the close of my school experience here at Brigham Young University-Hawaii, I have the opportunity to look back and reflect on the past couple of years and I recognize how much I have grown. My knowledge of spiritual and secular things were very limited when I graduated high school. I feel being here at Hawaii, with so much diversity, spiritual support, and a community of academia, has really helped me to grow. I understand the gospel of Jesus Christ better, I understand and can perform various art forms, I understand what makes a good teacher and how to cater to the needs of students who struggle in school, I have learned more about social interaction and relationships, I even met my husband here, but most of all I have learned more about myself. All of these things have helped me to grow into the person I am today.
I would like to take photographs that portray a sense of this growth that I have experienced using Hawaii's bounty of nature as my subject matter. Drawing from Ansel Adams spectacular black and white landscape photos, I will only use black and white to depict my theme. I hope to capture various values in my photos as Adams did, as well as the essence of growth.
